This is the first of what I hope will be three small (11"x14") floral watercolors for my show. I started and finished it today as roofers were pounding away. They're still pounding after eight hours, and I don't know how they're doing it in 91 degree heat, with a heat index of 100-105. I felt lucky to be in air conditioning painting my little picture, that's for sure. I was so into my work that after a while I stopped noticing the godawful racket going on overhead, and six years of teaching in a junior high building also helped me block out the sound. Eventually the cats stopped shooting me alarmed glances and went back to their important business of napping.
So, one down, two to go, and this was the toughest painting, go me. Thanks for all of the comments about the Mabel painting, by the way. They kept me motivated. :) I'll put a better photo of her on that post once the light improves here.
My mom commented to me in passing about how beautiful your peonies painting is. I had no idea what she was talking about until now. I can't believe my mom just surpassed me in the realm of hep.

Gorgeous painting! And the one of Mabel is so detailed as well! I love all the different colors of the children's books. I love that you're updating your blog more and more. I really love coming on here and seeing a new post. :)
