One of my favorite areas outside the house is our koi pond. Three small koi swim around in there, and I hope to buy at least one more as an anniversary gift for Jeff. The lily pads have emerged over the last few weeks, and I'm pretty sure that water lily in the middle will be in full bloom by the end of the day.
Friday I bought some flowers to plant around the pond. I've lived nearly all of my adult life in apartment buildings, so this activity gave me a great deal of pleasure.
This is the pond's biological water filter, and its two little fountains run continuously. A heater keeps the fish from freezing in the winter.
Our pretty Guan Yin statue crowned with petunias.
This is one of the few spots that receives a lot of sunlight, so I hope these petunias can handle it.
One of several moss rose plants I've placed around the pond. I've always associated these plants with Grandma Bradshaw. I hope they spread out and continue to bloom.
Spectacular! I love the hint of purple in each petal.
These pansies make me smile whenever I look at them. Since the trees overhead have created a leafy canopy, their stems have stretched a bit more in their quest for sun.
These flowers seem to glow when the sun hits them.
Jeff and Bun during one of their several daily pick-ups. When I took this photo, I told Jeff that I wouldn't post it, but it turned out so cute that I couldn't resist.
After Jeff put Bun down, Quixote came over and sort of stroked Bun with his tail. Bun put up with this nonsense for about three seconds before swatting at him.
I knew we should have made the koi rock bigger -- it gets totally lost in there. Which is the Mosaic Anniversary?

The rock is much more visible than in these angles. Though I didn't notice that it had been turned slightly until you made the comment.
It's sad. Our second large koi died this last winter. Now we're only left with 7-8" fish.
